Family background
Mr. Obida was born on 18March 1984. His father was famous industrialist late Md Abu Tayab, founder Chairman of TK Group and his mother Mrs. Laila Bilkis is current Chairperson of TK Group. He has two younger brothers -Mr. Abu Sadat Md Faisal and Mr. Talha Bin Tayab. He has two sisters – Dr. Roksana Afrose and Dr. Farhana Afroze. He is married to Mrs. Syeda Tasnuva Khanam, she is an honorable Director of another Industrialist family of Chattogram-Pedrollo Group. They are graced with two daughters. Education
Mr. Obida was a student at the Chittagong Cantonment Public School & College, Chattogram. He also studied Chittagong Collegiate School. He obtained Bachelor of Business Administration from North South University, Dhaka. Later he joined in maf Shoes Limited, which was then a fast- growing venture.
Career
In 2008Mr. Obida joined in family business. It was Md Abu Tayab who had started TK Group and brought the group a giant one. TK Group was established in 1972 after the liberation of war of Bangladesh. The Group made significant contributions to the overall development of business condition of the country when it was substantially ravaged by 1971 war. TK Group is pioneered at different sectors in the country, they have involvements in Edible Oil, Steel, Board, Paper, Packaging & Containers, Tea Plantation, Chemical Industries, Cement, Textile, Synthetic Footwear, Leather and Footwear, Ship Building, Consume Products, Trading, Share and Securities with annual turnover of USD 1 billion and is ranked among top 5 business conglomerates of the country. TK Group is engaged with footwear manufacturing businesses since 2010, which is initiated by group’s 2nd generations. Maf Shoes Limited is pioneer in footwear manufacturing in Bangladesh, it has started its first commercial production in the year 2011 with export of only 0.1 million pair of shoes, over the last one decade it has turned into 16.5 million pairs of shoe business securing leading exporter in non-leather segment with contribution of 1/5 of remittances earned from this segment. Maf has potential to grow 25% over next four years and reaching USD 100 million export milestone by 2021.
Mr. Obida has acquired enormous expertise in shoe sector from local and global associations, is enriched with the latest trend and technologies in this fastest evolving business. A good number of innovative measurements taken by him helped growing Footwear Industry in Bangladesh and earning more foreign currencies for the economic development of the country. For ensuring better work-place safety and working environment, Mr. Obida received“Occupational Health and Safety Good Practice Award -2018” from Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of Peoples Republic Bangladesh.
Mr. Obidais actively engaged with the following concerns and associations; through these business ventures he is immensely contributing in value additions and sectoral development; also opening-up thousands of employment opportunities for the young generation.
